Finca Viladellops

Description and History

El raïm de ViladellopsFinca Viladellops boasts an incomparable location in the heart of the Garraf Massif. At 250 meters above sea level, the area is defined by extremely calcareous mountain structures and soils containing traces of marine fossils. The wines are thoroughly Mediterranean in character, based on local varieties like Grenache and Xarel·lo to make reds and whites, respectively.

Finca Viladellops is committed to organic farming, striving to produce more natural wines out of a deep respect for the land.

Varieties and Production

The estate extends across 500 hectares, but only 55 are used to grow grapes. The typicity of the Garraf Massif and its forested areas make organic farming the ideal choice. Furthermore, the low vigor and yield of the vines guarantee perfect ripening and grape quality.

The practice of sustainable agriculture combined with efforts to preserve the surrounding environment – including the village of Viladellops, the dry stone architecture, the watchtower and the chapel – have earned Finca Viladellops full certification as an organic winery.

The clear predominance of local varieties like Grenache and Xarel·lo – including a variety as rare as the Xarel·lo rosé – along with the singular nature of the terrain make it possible to obtain wines with unique and well-established characteristics: whites defined by great minerality, notes of iodine and salt, and reds with notes of limestone and woodland undergrowth. The wines that form part of Qalidès come from a single terroir: Finca Viladellops.

Wine Characteristics

The white wines have wonderful minerality and capture the typicity of Mediterranean herbs. The reds seek the elegance and subtlety of a fresh, balanced and smooth Grenache.
