Parés Baltà, a family-owned winery in the Penedès, has been in the Cusiné family for generations, handed down from parents to children since 1790. Currently, three generations are actively involved in the winery: Rosa Cusiné, the grandmother; Joan Cusiné Cusiné, the son; and Juan and José Cusiné Carol, the grandchildren, along with their wives Maria Elena Jiménez and Marta Casas, who are the winery's enologists and deeply passionate about the world of wine. The fact that two young women are responsible for the quality and style of the wines is reflected in the elegance, balance and, above all, the sense of place that define the wines of Parés Baltà.
The Parés Baltà vineyards boast widely diverse microclimates that make it possible to grow each grape variety in a place where the vine can fully express its character and personality. The winery grows 18 different types of grape, but the family has a particular fondness for local varieties like Xarel•lo, Parellada, white Grenache and red Grenache.
The family owns 185 hectares of vines, which are farmed organically and biodynamically. Taken together, the vineyards make up a great mosaic of terroirs and climates, located in unique natural environments, which leave their indelible signature on each wine: calcareous-clay soils, terrains extremely rich in marine fossils, plus a wide variety of soil textures, including very rocky areas and others with jagged, sharp-edged stones or pebbles. There is even an old riverbed dating back millions of years.
Parés Baltà wines clearly reflect the terroir where the grapes are grown, the microclimatic diversity of the vineyards, and the passion of the enologists, Maria Elena and Marta.
