Mas Candí

Casa Mas Candí

Description and History

The Mas Candí winery is located in Les Gunyoles d'Avinyonet, at the edge of the Garraf Massif nature reserve. Mas Candí springs from the curiosity and passion of a young group of winegrowers who opened the winery in 2006 to make wines from the vineyards that their families had worked for generations. They are guided by a philosophy rooted in the highest respect for the vineyard, the grapes and their environment, allowing Mas Candí to produce wines that reflect the true character of the appellation.

Varieties and Production

Terrers Mas Candí

The winery owns and works 55 hectares of vines, with 20% of the crop going into its own wine production. Mas Candí focuses on local varieties, particularly Xarel·lo, the variety that is best suited to the area. The vineyards, located in Les Gunyoles, Guardiola de Font-Rubí, Subirats and Torrelavit, are characterized by different terroirs, elevations and microclimates, making it possible to produce a variety of wines. The winery grows the following varieties: Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Montònec, white Grenache, Malvasia de Sitges and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also works with old resuscitated varieties, including Mandó (a traditional Valencian grape that produces dense wines with sweet aromas of banana that, when blended with other grapes, results in extraordinarily rich fruit flavors), Sumoll, Roigenc, Turbado and Catalan varieties from Sardinia: Monica and Cannonau.
